Feed My Sheep

Luke 22:60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. (ESV)

I've always felt a connection with Simon (Peter). He swore to Christ that when all else failed, he would never waiver or leave him. Yet, when the moment came, he ran from the Roman soldiers and denied knowing him three times.

He denied knowing his best friend.

How often have we done that? We swear to love God forever and then deny him his rightful place in our hearts? Yet his love and grace are unwavering.

After Christ rose from the dead, and the first time he and Peter were together again, Christ said nothing of his betrayal. Instead of shame or disappointment, He simply trusted Peter with a very important task.

Feed my sheep.

Christ showed Peter grace and forgiveness, but also complete confidence that Peter, with all his failings, could bring Christ to others. Nevertheless, Christ still wanted to use him to spread the Good News.

Do you know what I love most? Jesus knew Peter’s heart. Peter wasn’t holding onto his shame. He gave it over to God and instantly went to work for the Lord!

He can use you for His Kingdom work.

If you think you've out sinned Peter or that God would never want you, you're wrong. Christ offers all of us who believe and live for him the opportunity to love him and serve others.

Will you answer the call?
