Uncomfortable...
How I long to be a missionary. To partner with others in service for Christ. Our ultimate purpose is to love him and others.
And yet…
Picture this: It's summer. The birds are singing; the flowers are blooming. The humidity is making my hair frizzy.
It's hot outside. It's so warm that I'm sweating by the time I reach my mailbox. I don't like the heat. Perhaps it's because I'm a true Michigan girl. We are treated to all four seasons, and I love it. Seventy-five percent of those seasons are cool enough to wear a sweatshirt.
Cool is where it's at.
Yesterday, we had an ice cream social for the ladies at our church. Outside. We set up the chairs, table, and tableware. By the time we were finished setting up, I was huffing and puffing, sweating and crabby. I wanted to crawl to my car in sit in the air-conditioning.
There I was, in service to the Lord, and all I could think about was my own comfort.
Not such a great missionary.
In the end, it was an evening full of amazing fellowship with other sisters in Christ. If I went with being comfortable, I would have missed the chance to be a blessing to others and to be blessed.
When it comes to living for God, it's good to be uncomfortable.
I would love to hear your thoughts! Have you ever stretched yourself to feeling uncomfortable for the Lord?
