Our mission…

John 13: 31-33 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself and will glorify him at once. “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come...

In my Lectio Devina today, I listened to the above verses. I always listen to my Lectio with my eyes closed. I could picture myself there, around the table with the fellas, just listening to Jesus.

How confusing it must have been to hear Jesus say that he was leaving. My heart filled with sadness, and I began to cry.

I cannot imagine not having Jesus with me. And though now in this time, we cannot see him, if we are believers, he is here with us, all the time and everywhere. This is what is called the "indwelling of the Spirit". It is what occurs when we accept Christ, repent of our sins, and live our lives for him and in his service of love to others and glory to God.

The thought of being without him motivates me to want to bring Christ to everyone. It is our mission, our reason for being here, as believers.

Let me encourage you today to keep your eyes on God's mission for you. And though the worries of this world can definitely wear us down, let's try to look at this life with eternal eyes.

I would love to hear your thoughts! Are there any areas of bondage, that are keeping you from living your mission?
